“We’ve kept them fed and we had some remote learning, but a lot of those students don’t have the resources and support at home to help them with their academic learning. “Our kids have been out of school for five-plus months, and 3/4 of our students are students living in poverty,” Rollo previously told the Avalanche-Journal. If LISD’s enrollment remains at 27,000, which it was last year, that’s 18,900 students returning to campuses next Monday. Rollo said she believes LISD schools can be a safe place and that there’s students who need to come back to school. Rollo said about 70% of students are taking in-person classes next week.
